At 00:00 on June 6th, a mighty Boeing 747 chartered plane carrying 6,830 bags of international mail departed for the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, America from the Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport, to ensure the quick delivery of international mail from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen to America via the Zhengzhou port.

微信图片_20210615172054.jpgThe continuing spread of COVID-19 reduces the air transport capacity of international mail. This mail delivery by Zhengzhou–America chartered planes is a temporary measure taken by the China Post Group to relieve the pressure of international mail transport on key ports. It is also a test for the collection and distribution capacity of the Zhengzhou Postal Port.

After receiving the emergency order from the China Post Group, the Henan Branch immediately formed a temporary working group to proceed with the procurement program. To ensure the on-time delivery of America-bound mail from China's key ports, the Henan Branch will temporarily lease five chartered planes within two weeks. It is expected that about 400 tons of international mail will be delivered to the US by the end of June.

The successful operation of this temporary Zhengzhou–America chartered plane is attributable to the huge distribution capacity of Zhengzhou's Aerial Silk Road and the fast customs clearance function of Zhengzhou Postal Port.

It is not the first time for Zhengzhou to enjoy equal status with China's top four cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen.

At the critical stage of pandemic prevention and control in 2020, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Zhengzhou airports transported 90% of international cargo from and to China. It once again demonstrated the prestige and influence of Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport and Zhengzhou Postal Port in the global freight sector.

Henan's hub and port economies are developing rapidly. In 2020, Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport's passenger and cargo capacity maintained the top position for four consecutive years in central China. The international freight volume and the cargo flight volume rose to fifth place in the country. Zhengzhou Postal Port's import and export volume exceeded 20,000 tons, up 54% from a year ago. The business size climbed to fourth place in the country.

The emergency opening of this postal route by temporary Zhengzhou–America chartered planes proves that Henan is accelerating the transition from an inland province to an opening-up center.
