Cambodia is an ancient civilization with a long history. As early as the 1st century AD, it established a unified kingdom. Angkor Wat in Cambodia is listed as a World Heritage Site and is the largest temple complex in the world. Sihanoukville, located on the southwest coast, is Cambodia’s second largest city and its largest seaport and a paradise resort. Chinese business visitors to Cambodia have grown rapidly in recent years, reaching about 2.3 million in 2019.

Henan and Cambodia have maintained close economic, trade, cultural and tourism exchanges. In November 2019, Samrak, Board Chairman of Cambodia Angkor Air, signed a memorandum of understanding with Zhengzhou Airport Economic Zone, and reached a consensus with Executive Vice Governor Huang Qiang on the opening of the Phnom Penh-Zhengzhou route. In January 2020, H.E. Dr. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia, led a delegation to visit Zhengzhou. Xu Liyi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Henan Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Zhengzhou Municipal Party Committee, and Vice Governor Dai Baihua, met with the delegation successively. The two sides reached a broad consensus on further deepening cooperation in tourism, aviation and cultural and economic exchanges.

It is reported that Cambodia Angkor Air, also known as Cambodia Airlines, is a civil aviation enterprise held by the Royal Government of Cambodia. It is also the “national flag carrier” established by legislation and is responsible for the special flight of Cambodian leaders. Originally established in 1956 as Royal Airways of Cambodia, it was renamed Cambodia Angkor Air in 2009. Cambodia Angkor Air operates numerous routes both within and outside Cambodia, mainly covering Southeast Asian countries and more than ten cities in China such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Through code sharing with Vietnam Airlines, it flies to destinations such as France, the United Kingdom, and Australia. With excellent safety records and good operation and control system, Cambodia Angkor Air is the only civil aviation enterprise in Cambodia that has obtained IOSA certification.
